Mine Tour: Our mine tours are around 90 minutes long and packed full of fun. Our knowledgeable guides will take you deep underground to explore the old working mines where children as young as 10 used to blast slate from the caverns to use on such buildings as Buckingham palace and St. Paul’s cathedral.

Via Ferrata Classic: Following the original Miners route to the top of the Mountain, Via Ferrata Classic is not as challenging or demanding as the Via Ferrata Xtreme.

The Classic route begins by descending and traversing an exposed gully called Bull Gill. The route then continues over a narrow steel bridge which crosses over the top of the gulley, this is where miners used to dispose of unusable rock from deep within the caverns of Honister. From the steel bridge crossing there is a steep climb up a crag face, the top of the climb will mark the half-way point of the classic route. You then continue up the old incline passing by mountainside huts and drum houses the miners used to use to lower clogs to the Lancaster Ariel. This part of the classic route is a steep scramble up to the summit of Black Star and then Fleetwith Pike.
